The Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa has launched its 1995 series 50-cent sterling silver coins. The 4-coin series salutes the “birds of Canada.”
Featured on the reverse side are the Atlantic puffin, the whooping crane, the gray jay (also known as the whiskey jack) and the white-tailed ptarmigan.
The coins are composed of 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper.
