New SAG mill for Applied Carbon

Producer Applied Carbon Technology (VSE), formerly Cal Graphite, is commissioning a semi-autogenous grinding (SAG) mill at its graphite operation in Kearney, Ont.

Part of a $4-million capital improvement plan, the new mill is intended to increase output. Results should be known after several weeks of trial operation and testing.

Meanwhile, operations continue to expand at the companys Brockton, N.Y., graphite plant. About $2 million has been spent this year on processing lines and the plant should be fully operational in the first quarter of 1994.
