British Columbia’s Science World surpassed its fund-raising goal of $1.5 million for its new “mine games” exhibition, which opened to the public Oct. 22 in Vancouver.
The provincial and federal governments, together with the mining industry and related suppliers from the province and other parts of Canada, contributed more than $1 million.
The exhibition of games and interactive theatre focuses on the scientific, technological, economic and social impact of mining in the province. Visitors can search for gold, design a mountain bike, mint coins and test their skills on computer games.
The exhibition will embark on a national tour of other science centres during the latter half of 1996.
The Science World organization presents exhibitions and demonstrations, informal educational activities and province-wide outreach programs related to science and technology.
