Nevada output of gold rises

Gold production in Nevada totalled 6.5 million oz. in 1992, up from 5.8 million oz. the previous year, the state’s department of minerals reports.

Giving the state a major boost was the Goldstrike mine of American Barrick Resources (TSE); the mine doubled its output last year to more than one million ounces.

Nevada claims first place among states as a producer of gold and silver. Mines in Nevada produced about 20 million oz. silver in 1992.
