Namibia awards contracts for airborne survey work

Two companies have won contracts to acquire, process and market high-resolution airborne geophysical data over selected areas of Namibia.

The Geological Survey of Namibia says the survey work by Compagnie Generale de Geophysique and Quad Consulting will cost almost US$9 million and will be funded by the European Union through the SYSMIN system.

The areas to be surveyed cover a total surface expression of 130,000 sq. km. The surveys will be flown at a terrain distance of 80 metres, with line spacing ranging between 200 and 400 metres. Flying will commence in November and more than 700,000 line km of data are to be acquired by July, 1995. For more information, write to the Director, Geological Survey, Box 2168, Windhoek, Namibia.
