Museum mineralogy subject of series

The mineral collection of the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) will be “on display” in January when the mineralogy department presents its Cocktails with Curators IV. On three Tuesday evenings (Jan. 8, 15 and 22), Curator Fred Wicks and his staff will talk about the new galleries, show specimens and take guests behind the scenes. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served between 5:30 and 6 p.m. and the program will conclude at 7:30 p.m.

On Jan. 8, plans for the new “mineralogy galleries” will be presented; on Jan. 15, gemstones and where they come from will be the topic; and on Jan. 22, guests will be taken “behind the scenes.”

The series costs $40 for members, $45 for non-members; single sessions cost $15 for members, $20 for non-members. Send cheques (payable to ROM-MVC) and a stamped, self-addressed envelope to MVC, Royal Ontario Museum, 100 Queen’s Park, Toronto, Ont. M5S 2C6.
