Munk and Smith join Lac board

Following the recent takeover by American Barrick Resources (TSE), the board of directors of Lac Minerals (TSE) is changing.

Peter Munk, chairman and chief operating officer of Barrick, and Robert Smith, president, have been appointed directors of Lac.

Munk has been appointed chairman of the board, replacing James Pitblado, who held that position since July 22, 1994. Pitblado will remain a director. Smith will serve as president of Lac during this transitional period, replacing former president Peter Steen. Steen replaced Peter Allen who resigned as president on Aug. 5.
