Montreal Exchange More Douay drilling

The three partners in the Douay gold project in Quebec’s Casa Berardi region have started up a second drilling program representing 10,800 ft. Inco, Societe d’Exploration Miniere Vior and Cambior are hoping to pull more intersections similar to the discovery hole announced several weeks ago. Casa Berardi was the scene of much exploration activity during the first half of the 1980s; some analysts predict a hectic drilling season for the area this summer. For the week ended March 13, Inco closed unchanged at $30.63 on 145,900 shares, Vior dropped 53 cents to $1.05 on more than two million shares and Cambior closed unchanged at $16.75 on a volume of 50,100. Daily trading volumes weakened during the week, falling to 3.6 million shares by the end of one session. Both the market portfolio and mining and minerals index closed higher, the former by four points and the latter by 12 points.

Lixor was encouraged by drilling results from its gold property in Courville Twp. near Val d’Or, Que. The results, the company says, indicate a mineralized zone on the north sector of the property. Trading 25,000 shares, Lixor slipped 7 cents to 38 cents.

In northeastern Ontario, Armistice Resources is making plans to extract a 10,000-ton bulk sample from the Sheldon 185N zone of the company’s Virginiatown gold property. Access to the zone will be gained through a crosscut from the 2,050-ft. level. Armistice fell 4 cents to 26 cents on 140,400 shares.

Abcourt Mines has granted an option to Ressources Val d’Or which will allow Val d’Or to acquire Abcourt’s 50% interest in the Bardome (Vendome) zinc property in northwestern Quebec for $1.5 million. Trading 9,500 shares, Abcourt gained 1 cents to 17 cents , while Val d’Or, which owns the other 50% in the project, closed unchanged at 25 cents with 899,300 shares changing hands.

Continuing to drill and publish results from its Goldboro gold property in Nova Scotia is Exploration Orex, which lost 4 cents to $1.30 on 55,500 shares. The Quebec- based junior is hoping to turn the property into a gold producer again.

Newly listed on the ME is Acabit Exploration.
