Minnova drops Fireweed project

After carrying out about 9,000 ft. of drilling on the Fireweed property near Smithers, B.C., Minnova (TSE) decided to terminate its option to earn a 70% interest in the project from Mansfield Minerals (VSE).

Minnova’s work program consisted of IP geophysical surveys and diamond drilling to test new geophysical targets outside of the known areas of mineralization in the West zone.

Drilling in the Far East and Far West zones did not intersect mineralization, while drilling in the South zone intersected weak copper mineralization. Several holes drilled to test other targets also failed to provide encouragement.

More than 65,000 ft. of drilling in 97 holes has been completed on the property to date. Work by previous operators was largely focused on the West zone which has preliminary reserves of about 900,000 tons grading 7.7 oz. silver per ton and 4% combined lead-zinc.
