The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has tentatively scheduled the state’s 21st sale of exploration and mining leases for metallic minerals for July or August.
The areas under consideration for lease cover portions of Beltrami, Carlton, Crow Wing, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake and St. Louis counties. Though some of the areas being considered have been offered previously, new geologic data and exploration techniques have increased the potential for the discovery of mineral resources.
The exact time and place of the sale will be announced at least 30 days prior to the sale, and books listing the offered land will be available for purchase or inspection at that time.
A map showing the general areas under consideration is available from the Division of Minerals, Box 45, 500 Lafayette Rd., Saint Paul, Minn. 55155-4045. For more information, contact the department at (612) 296-4807.
