MINING IN MEXICO — Aurizon plans more la Reyna work

A US$200,000 work program was recently completed by Aurizon Mines (TSE) on its 140-sq.-km La Reyna copper-gold project in Sinaloa state, Mexico.

The second-stage program involved geophysical and geochemical surveys together with a sampling program to test prospective areas. The land package is considered prospective for four types of copper-gold mineralization: breccia-hosted, disseminated porphyry copper, chlorite-tourmaline-quartz, and gold-dominant zones. A small portion of the mineralized belt being explored already contains an estimated 33.6 million tonnes grading 0.48% copper and 1.27 grams gold per tonne.

Ten new drill targets were selected from among the four potential ore types. Additional work — including backhoe trenching, thin-section studies, detailed evaluation of geophysical anomalies and testing of new anomalies — will be part of a $100,000 program to be completed by year-end.
