To be known as the Murdochville Copper Interpretation Centre (Centre d’interpretation du cuivre de Murdochville), the project is being funded 85% by the provincial and federal governments, and 15% by local inhabitants.
The mining museum and underground works, the idea for which dates back to 1983, will provide a means to promote tourism in the copper mining town of Murdochville and the Gaspe peninsula.
