The Minnesota government has given notice that it will auction off leases to prospect for and mine metallic minerals on several state- owned properties in northern Minnesota. The sale, affecting eight counties in the Lake of the Woods area, will take place in St. Paul, Minn., on April 18. The mining leases will be awarded to the highest bidders. Lessees will be required to pay rent on the property, pay a royalty for all ore mined, submit data and other reports and address certain environmental considerations.
