LETTER TO THE EDITOR — Reader smells something fishy in recent letter

Judging from his letter, which appeared in your Aug. 19 issue (“Ottawa may be setting a dangerous precedent”), Chris O’Brien is an environmental activist la carte. He knows as much about fish as I do about snipe shooting.

What is the name of the genetically distinct fish he says will be lost forever? What does he know that he is not passing on to the rest of us? Please let us in on it.

He reminds me of the gang who are trying to block the cutting of white pine in the Temagami area of Ontario. That group wouldn’t know the difference between a white pine and a jack pine. Where does this lot come from? Bud Laporte

North Bay, Ont.
