LETTER TO THE EDITOR — Miner avoids sensationalism

I would like to echo the comments made by Jean-Pierre Thomassin in his recent letter to the editor (T.N.M., April 21/97). The Northern Miner’s coverage of the Bre-X Minerals saga has been absolutely top-class.

The articles by Jim Whyte have been models of even, sober, thoughtful and thorough analysis. Those articles studiously avoided the rampant sensationalism that prevails in the rest of the media, though they did not avoid the issue of possible fraud. In my view, these are the only articles worth reading.

Congratulations to you all. The Northern Miner has never looked better.
