Letter to the Editor Center of Excellence

Your last editorial titled “Research teamwork” (Sept 19) is very timely and well received. It does, however, contain a factual error regarding “Western Centre of Excellence in Surface Mining.”

This Centre is proposed jointly by the University of Alberta, located in Edmonton, and the University of British Columbia, located in Vancouver. The University of Calgary is involved only marginally, its research base related to surface mining being rather weak. Dr. T. S. Golosinski, P.Eng.
