Large-column copper leaching tests are under way in Tucson, Ariz., on 6-inch-diameter core drilling samples from the wholly-owned Mariquita copper project in Mexico, Cominco Resources International (TSE) reports.

The test work is to be completed during the second quarter, along with other metallurgical and engineering studies for a proposed

25-million-lb.-per-year cathode copper operation.

Elsewhere in Mexico, the company says, a 4,000-metre drilling program designed to search for more high-grade ore was begun at the end of January at the Maria .NB3
