LAST BUT NOT LEAST — Teck to drill Fortune prospect

Toronto-listed Teck will drill a minimum 8-hole, 3,000-ft. program at the Salkeld Lake property of Fortune Minerals (CDN).

The major can earn a 60% interest in the 1,033-acre property, northeast of Pine Point, N.W.T., by making certain cash payments to Fortune and spending $500,000 on exploration over three years. In 1993, Teck spent $130,000 on field work.

The drilling, set to begin this month, will test induced-polarization anomalies detected last year. Samples from surface showing have returned copper, silver, gold, lead and zinc values.

Meanwhile, Fortune is completing environmental and baseline studies at its limestone project near Formosa, Ont.
