!Kidd Creek plans to cut zinc output

Falconbridge, a private company held equally by Noranda (TSE) and Trelleborg AB of Sweden, is reducing zinc production at its Kidd Creek, Ont., division by 20,000 tonnes (22,000 tons) this year. Falconbridge says the reduction represents about 16% of Kidd Creek’s annual zinc output and will be offset by an increase in copper production.

Zinc was trading recently at US54 cents per lb. on the London Metals Exchange, down from its 52-week high of 84 cents.
