Citing financial losses, Johnson Matthey plans to close its plant in Trail, B.C., by year-end. The plant employs 95 persons and produces a variety of high purity metals and other materials that are primarily used in high- technology industries such as advanced electronics, defence and space.
A company spokesman said part of the operation will be moved to Spokane, Wash., and another part to Victoria, B.C.
