Tanqueray Resources (ASE) has acquired the mineral rights to a 2,000-acre garnet property in Montana.
Preliminary geological studies have established a resource of more than 250,000 tons of salable almandine garnet. The resource occurs as a 1-33-ft.-thick, unconsolidated, eluvial, colluvial, and alluvial deposit which can be mined from surface.
Mineralogical studies indicate the garnets are suitable for industrial applications such as sand-blasting, abrasives and water filtration. Tanqueray reports that garnet sells for US$150-200 per ton and that the annual non-communist world market is about 150,000 tons and growing at a rate of 5-10% per year.
Sampling is under way on the property.
