Drills are turning on a new massive sulphide showing near Smithers, B.C.
Imperial Metals (TSE) reports that the showing was discovered by local prospectors in an exposure uncovered by a road washout.
The zone includes coarse-grained massive pyrite, arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite, galena and sphalerite with anomalous gold and silver values.
The mineralization is largely obscured by overburden and has been traced for about 30 metres. Some samples returned values of up to 2.3 oz. gold and 13 oz. silver per ton, along with elevated base metal values.
Imperial can acquire the ground by paying $2 million over 10 years.
