An initial bulk sample from Huldra Silver’s Treasure Mountain property east of Hope, B.C., has netted the company $344,265.
The 407-ton sample, obtained from surface mining of the C vein, was processed by Cominco (390 tons) and Asarco (17 tons). Smelter assays averaged 100.3 oz silver per ton, 32.7% lead and 6.8% zinc.
Another 2,000 tons of lower grade surface ore is stockpiled on site and will be custom milled this summer, President Magnus Brat lien reports. An additional 1,800 tons of mill grade ore has been produced from drifting on the C vein on level 1, he says.
The company completed drifting on level 1 of the vein late in 1987. The vein was intersected 286 ft from the portal and followed for the next 673 ft. Channel sampling over 484 ft across an average width of 3.6 ft, gave grades of 30 oz silver per ton, 10.2% lead and 4.7% zinc.
The drift on level 2, which is about 445 ft below the first level, is nearing the projected intersection of the C vein. The company hopes to complete drifting on the second level in February at which time a decision will be made on future exploration and development plans.
