Great Lakes, Geomaque pursue merger

Two emerging gold producers, Great Lakes Minerals (TSE) and Geomaque Explorations (TSE), are pursuing a proposed merger.

The amalgamation would create an entity which, by year-end, should have interests in three producing gold mines and one copper mine. Great Lakes holds a 20% interest in the Grouse Creek gold project in Idaho, a half interest in the 543-S copper mine in Michigan and a 100% interest in the Lluvia de Oro gold project in Mexico. Geomaque owns the San Francisco gold property, also in Mexico, and interests in two concessions in Burkina Faso, West Africa.

The merger is subject to both companies completing due diligence and receiving regulatory, shareholder and board approval.
