Organized workers at the Golden Giant mine of Hemlo Gold Mines (TSE) have voted 70% in favor of accepting a first collective agreement.
The agreement, covering 223 employees affiliated with the United Steelworkers of America, expires in April, 1996. Over the period covered by the agreement, the base salary will increase by $1.31 from $21.51 per hour. The mine, near Marathon, Ont., employs 330 people and produced 422,000 oz. gold in 1993.
