A 4-day symposium on gold, featuring field trips to Gordex Minerals, the province’s primary gold producer, and to areas of other prominent gold occurrences, will be held in June in Saint John, N.B. The symposium will run from June 8-11, at Keddy’s Fort Howe Hotel, and is being co-sponsored by the New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources and Energy, geological surveys branch, and the N.B. Prospectors & Developers Association.
Keynote speaker, on June 8, will be Dr William Fyfe of the University of Western Ontario, who will address attendees on the topic of geochemical processes and gold mineralization associated with crustal thickening.
Invited talks the same day will focus on gold deposits and occurrences in the province, and their relationship to tectonic evolution.
Field trips are scheduled for the remaining three days of the symposium, and will include a trip to Cape Spencer, site of the Gordex mine, and to the Alcida and Upsalquitch areas of the province.
