According to President Peter Smith, grab samples taken from eight showings in a series of northwest trending shears assayed as high as 6.07% copper, 0.764 oz gold and 3.37 oz silver per ton.
While the showings are widely distributed within an area 3 x 4 km, Smith has been encouraged by their proximity to the Copper Rand and Portage Islan d gold cop per mines which Western Mining acquired from Toronto-based Northgate Exploration (TSE) last year.
Fancamp’s Lemoine Twp. property is on the southwest side of Lake Chibougamau about 10 km southeast of Copper Rand.
After the initial discovery in June, Fancamp has extracted about 60 grab samples so far. “I.P. surveys run across the property have picked up st rong responses in shears which vary from one metre to seven metres in width,” Smith told The Northern Miner.
Westminer can earn a 50% stake in the Lemoine Twp. property by spending $400,000. Stripping and channel sampling are in progress and diamond dr illing is expec ted to begin later this fall.
The discovery claims aside, Fancamp has the right to earn an interest in an adjacent (to the northeast) block of 11 claims which have been optioned by Westmin er and Greenstone Resources (TSE) of Toronto.
