The Geological Association of Canada (GAC) and the Mineralogical Association of Canada (MAC) are seeking 15 people to spend nine days on the island of Kyushu in Japan this May. The trip will concentrate on the economic geology, tectonics, volcanism, sedimentation and metamorphism of this volcanically active island on the Pacific Rim of Fire. At least two orebodies will be visited: the Hishikari underground gold mine and the Iwato open pit gold mine.
The fee of $3,900 per person includes return airfare from Vancouver, all local air and surface travel, hotel accommodation, meals, guide gratuities and a guidebook. The trip is scheduled for May 4-15.
