Freewest, Noranda test deeper targets

A drill hole (No 88-27) intersected 57.4 ft averaging 0.17 oz gold per ton at a vertical depth of 1,250 ft at the northeastern Ontario joint- venture Harker-Holloway project of Noranda Inc. (TSE) and Freewest Resources (ME), the companies report.

Within the intersection were values of 0.54 oz over 9.8 ft, 0.51 oz over 2.8 ft and 0.53 oz over 4.1 ft.

The companies say the zone has never been tested at depth and is open vertically and laterally. The zone was previously drilled to a vertical depth of 500 ft. Noranda, with a 60% interest, is the operator.

The property is located on the Destor-Porcupine fault adjacent to Canamax’s East zone gold deposit and one mile north of American Barrick’s Holt-McDermott mine.
