Neighboring Idaho also saw some action this year, even though FMC Gold (NYSE) has yet to announce a production decision for its huge Beartrack gold deposit in Lemhi Cty. FMC owns 71% of the project, and Canyon Resources holds a 15% interest.
Before this year’s exploration effort began, heap-leachable reserves stood at 29.2 million tons averaging 0.035 oz. gold per ton. But the property also hosts sulphide reserves of an additional 15.1 million tons averaging 0.042 oz. gold.
Atlanta Gold (TSE) is continuing exploration of its Elmore gold project in Idaho with a new joint venture partner after Newmont Mining dropped its option. The property hosts open pit deposits that are metallurgically complex, but Newmont was exploring for higher-grade mineralization at depth.
