EXPLORATION ROUNDUP — Blue Emerald turns east and west

Norway and Indonesia may be on opposite ends of the earth, but junior Blue Emerald Resources (BER-V) is of the view that both countries offer significant potential for new discoveries.

The junior has a number of mineral properties in Norway, yet its immediate focus is the 100%-owned Meraker project in central Norway, near Trondheim.

The land package hosts at least three occurrences of high-grade copper that were mined intermittently from the early 1700s to 1920. Values exceeding 5% copper were reported from massive sulphide zones, which, in places, had a strike length of more than 1,000 ft. and a width of at least 10 ft. These were mined to a maximum vertical depth of 200 ft. using horizontal adits. Ore was trammed to the bottom of the hillside for processing.

Blue Emerald notes that while historical mining records make no mention of zinc or gold, samples from several areas, taken by the company and government geologists, have assayed up to 17% zinc and 6.5% copper, plus minor gold values.

The property is accessible by road, and power is nearby.

Blue Emerald plans to follow up on 12 helicopter electromagnetic targets, as well as test high-grade outcrops and previously mined zones by trenching and diamond drilling.

In Indonesia, Blue Emerald has a 45% interest in the Walang gold property, a joint venture with Waseco Resources (WSCO-C) on the island of Java. The property consists of 7,625 ha and is on the northwestern margin of the Bayah dome.

The property is known to cover extensions of epithermal gold veins discovered by the state-owned mining company on an adjacent property. Artisanal miners are currently working on the Walang property.

Exploration is under way to locate, sample and map all mineralized surface exposures in preparation for a proposed diamond drill program.

Blue Emerald also has exploration projects in Canada, including a gold prospect in Ontario’s Timmins gold camp.
