EXPLORATION 1997 — Maj. General adds to Green Bay

An option agreement will add 2,000 acres of mineral claims to a land package held by Major General Resources (MGJ-V) in the Green Bay area of northwestern Newfoundland.

The company says the newly acquired claims adjoin current claims to the south and bring its total holdings to about 35,000 acres.

The land package covers rock units belonging to the Catchers Pond group of volcanics, which hosts the company’s Hammerdown, Rumbullion and Orion gold deposits, as well as several newly discovered massive sulphide prospects.

Major General can acquire the claims (subject to a 1% net smelter return royalty) by issuing 140,000 shares over five years and paying $10,000 by mid-September 1998.
