Europeans hunt for SEDEX deposits in southern Germany

Hamburger Metallkontor Gmbh & Co. of Hamburg, Germany, and partner Onshore Resources of Dublin, Ireland, are continuing their search for sedimentary-exhalitive (SEDEX) lead-zinc deposits in central Europe.

They are exploring Precambrian-aged terrains in northeastern Bavaria where smaller, stratiform deposits were previously mined.

On one concession, stream and soil-sampling programs outlined wide zones with anomalous lead, zinc and silver values. Subsequent induced polarization (IP) surveys and trenching revealed the presence of disseminated sulphides in bedrock, verifying the theory of SEDEX-style mineralization. In the central part of the concession, near the West-Bohemian fault zone, a strong electromagnetic (EM) conductor, with coincident IP anomalies, has also been identified.

During this year’s field season, the companies are planning further surface work and drilling around the EM anomaly.
