Environmental shortcomings temporarily close Hope Brook mill

The shutdown was required to allow modifications to the effluent treatment facility. The modifications will enable the mill to improve its tailings discharge to meet environmental guidelines.

Milling is expected to resume within four weeks, the company says. During the shutdown, Hope Brook will install additional pumping and pipeline facilities which will allow larger volumes of liquids to be treated. This will bring effluent quality up to government standards.
