Significant gold assays are coming in from the Pacquet property on Newfoundland’s Baie Verte Peninsula where International Impala Resources and Noranda Exploration Co. have a joint venture program.
The property consists of two separate claims, the Bradley Option and the Pacquet Harbour group (N.M., Oct 12,87).
Gold has been discovered in three zones on the Bradley Option. Noranda, as operator, has undertaken a bulk channel sampling program on both the Main zone and the Gabbro zone in the Stog’er Tight Showing. Among the better results, channel sampling on the Main zone gave a 45.9-ft length averaging 0.135 oz gold per ton, including 9.8 ft which graded 0.369 oz.
The Gabbro zone, which lies 660 ft northwest of the Main zone had a 29.5 ft sample averaging 0.367 oz, including 19.6 ft of 0.517 oz. Another 16.4-ft section gave 0.305 oz.
Drilling has begun to test the Stog’er Tight showing at depth. The drilling will continue into 1988. Trenching and channel sampling on other geochemically anomalous areas on both claim groups will be carried out next spring.
