Regrettably, we came to the conclusion the policy is only window dressing. There is no commitment on the part of the (federal) government to development of the mining industry. The mining industry only rates a junior minister within the government. It is, however, also clear that the mining companies have not done a good job of managing the industry’s case with the government and this is an area where more work and involvement by all participants is necessary.
