The Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto is trying to raise $5 million to finance construction of an earth sciences gallery. The museum says it has been about 12 years since it had such a facility, and it hopes its McLaughlin Earth Science Gallery Campaign will alleviate the situation.
Plans call for the new gallery to be about 15,000 square ft. in size. It will feature a 60-ft.-high atrium with a replica of a rock canyon, displays of gems, minerals, gold specimens, and rock and ore collections.
