The first five holes drilled on the San Antonio prospect at the Minoro project in Honduras encountered multiple intervals of gold mineralization in two separate limestone beds.
Selected intervals included: 36 metres of 0.85 gram gold per tonne plus 34 metres of 2.07 grams gold and 0.21% copper in hole 96-17; 12 metres of 1.19 grams in hole 96-18; 24 metres of 1.04 grams in hole 96-20; 28 metres of 1.53 grams in hole 96-21.
Gold and copper mineralization occurs as disseminations and in fractures within calcareous sedimentary rocks along a 900-metre, east-west-trending zone.
The Minoro gold-copper project is a joint venture between Champion Resources (CHL-V), Tombstone Explorations (TSO-T) and Mar-West Resources (MSR-V).
Champion is earning half of Tombstone’s 80% interest, while Mar-West retains a 20% working interest.
The San Antonio zone is 2 km northwest of the Tatanacho gold-copper skarn zone, which was tested by the first 16 holes of the 1996 program. Drilling is continuing at Tatanacho.
