Digital dataset of China planned

The Aero Geophysical Survey and Remote Sensing Centre (AGS/RSC) of China’s Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources has joined with Paterson, Grant & Watson of Toronto to produce a digital dataset of on-shore and off-shore continental China.

AGS/RSC, sole owner of all Chinese aeromagnetic data, will release about 8.5 million line kilometres of data; the compilation will take place in Beijing and Toronto.

A consortium of international mining and oil companies is funding the project. Products to be developed include gridded digital data for the entire country and high-quality color contour maps of China’s total magnetic field.
