DIAMOND PAGE — Results from DHK bulk-sample review expected

Results from a review of the DO-27 bulk sample on the DHK group of claims in the Northwest Territories are expected by mid-November.

Kennecott sent shock waves through the Territorial diamond play this past summer when it announced that results from 4,261 tonnes of bulk-sample material on the DO-27 pipe were not good enough to justify further bulk sampling.

Kennecott holds rights to a 40% interest in the property. The remainder is held by Dentonia Resources (VSE), Horseshoe Gold Mining (ASE) and Kettle River Resources (VSE), which have a combined 35%; Aber Resources (TSE), which retains 15%; and SouthernEra Resources (TSE), which has 10%. The DO-27 review involves evaluating the diamonds recovered from the bulk sample. Fusion results from drilling on the DO-18 and DD-17 diamondiferous pipes are also pending, and Kennecott is planning a large-diameter core “mini-bulk” sample for DO-18 early next spring.

Work on the claims in the summer included gathering more than 800 till samples, which are being processed for indicator minerals in Kennecott’s laboratory in Thunder Bay, Ont. Results will be used in conjunction with ground geophysical surveys to outline targets for potential drilling next year.

In the meantime, Dentonia is working to diversify into gold exploration by pursuing certain properties in Mongolia.

Elsewhere in the Northwest Territories

* The International Diamond Syndicate hopes to identify targets for winter drilling on an 83,200-hectare prospect at the southern end of the so-called “Corridor of Hope.” Ninety-six till samples were collected during the summer from 20 magnetic anomalies situated under lakes or swamps.

The Syndicate is 40%-owned by each of Calco Resources (VSE) and Teryl Resources (VSE), with Agate Bay Resources holding the balance. On completion of its earn-in, the syndicate will hold a 16% interest in the property, with Major General Resources (VSE) retaining 24% and SouthernEra Resources holding 60%.

* Garden Lake Resources (VSE) and RJK Explorations (ASE) say recent discoveries east and southwest of their large Warburton Lake property indicate the presence of a new kimberlite field. At their Point Lake property, Garden Lake and RJK have completed their earn-in and now have a combined 40% interest; results from the summer till sampling of 14 geophysical targets are pending. Also, the companies have dropped their option on the Jolly Lake property.

Overseas

* Canadian Overseas Exploration (VSE) plans to raise

$10 million by issuing 25 million shares at 40 cents each. The placement will enable the company to expand its marine diamond concessions to 330 from 60 sq. km.

The junior is seeking a partner to participate in its diamond interests.
