Partners Diadem Resources (DIR-M) and Bresea Resources (BSR-M) are testing several base metal targets at their Belitung project in Indonesia.
Bresea has a 60% interest in the project, Diadem holds 30%, and Indonesian partners hold the remainder. The project covers 119,790 ha in three main properties: the Kelapa Kampit base metal-tin prospect, the Tikus tin-tungsten polymetallic prospect, and the Lilangan gold prospect. The land package on Belitung Island covers several past-producing tin mines.
The current program is testing Kalapa Kampit, where previous operators identified base metal mineralization along a 7.5-km-long strike length, as well as three parallel zones. Operator Bre-X Minerals (BXM-T), using data from past work, calculated an inferred resource of 5.49 million tonnes grading 7.25% zinc and 3.86% lead.
Since then, mapping, trenching and channel sampling have been carried out.
Results from recent scout drilling include: 6 metres of 5.1% zinc and 2.53% lead, plus 35 grams silver per tonne; 5 metres of 9.88% zinc, 3.47% lead and 25.7 grams silver; and 2.5 metres of 12.85% zinc, 2.94% lead, 4.63% copper and 64.5 grams silver. The program is ongoing, and further results are awaited.
