Vancouver-listed junior Cross Lake Minerals has added 73 claims to its joint-venture holdings with East West Resource (VSE) in the Casa Berardi area of northern Quebec.
These claims cover an extension of the stratigraphy where 10 geophysical anomalies, thought to represent massive sulphides, were outlined last winter. It is hoped these will be better defined by an induced polarization (IP) survey now under way.
One of the best IP anomalies has been traced for more than one kilometre. A previous sample of sulphide material from one of the IP horizons contained 0.19 oz. gold per ton over 13 ft.
The partners now jointly hold property along a 10-mile strike length west of the Agnico Eagle gold mine, all of which is in the same stratigraphic package of rocks.
Cross Lake has also acquired 72 claims at its Timmins-Sheraton property, near Timmins, Ont. Recent magnetic and electromagnetic surveys have outlined three possible massive sulphide targets. These zones are interpreted to be hosted in a felsic rhyolite which may be equivalent to the Kidd Creek mine horizon. Cross Lake plans to drill these targets in the near future.
