Correspondent needs sorting out

Your garrulous Ocker correspondent displayed the usual Australian sensitivity on matters New Zealand in the recent story “Australasian PGM sector needs dash of Fipke magic” (T.N.M., Sept. 14-20/98).

Firstly, Sigma Resources was never foisted on to the Australian Stock Exchange. Sigma has the good sense to list in New Zealand only.

Secondly, the assertion that the South Island platinum country is crawling with anti-miners is way off the mark. Locals still buy miners a beer in the pub on the South Island. The correspondent has placed his supply of fine South Island white wines in jeopardy, lest he mend his ways!
