A commodities exchange recently opened in Moscow, the first such facility in the Soviet Union since the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917. The new Moscow exchange, modelled after the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, will allow for the trading of a number of goods, including fabrics, furniture, plastics, machinery and electronic equipment. Agricultural products are expected to be traded in the near future.
