COATS Trading Features (April 24, 1989)

Two companies with interests in platinum-palladium prospects, Boston Bay Mines and Belleterre Quebec Mines, were active, but easier at $3.00-$3.50 and 53 cents -63 cents respectively. Platinum Lake Technology, a Mississauga-based company with ambitious plans to recover platinum from spent automotive catalytic converters was active this week at $1.70-$1.90. Speculators have suggested the recent fusion experiments in the U.S. could lead to new uses for platinum.

McNickel Inc. gained 20 cents to trade actively at the $3.70 level. The company is preparing a public offering to fund additional exploration, including diamond drilling, on its Quebec nickel-copper property. McNickel has an option to earn a 60% interest in a 40-claim property near Lac St. Jean, Que., where more than 20 companies have acquired claims.

Young Shannon Mines moved lower to 65 cents -95 cents on a volume of more than 120,000 shares. The company has a gold property in Chester Twp., Ont. MacDonald Mines, which has a 49% interest in a shutdown Quebec zinc mine, was easier at 60 cents .
