Citadel Gold gains approval to proceed at Surlaga mine

The recent approval from federal and provincial agencies completes all necessary permitting for eventual production from the property. Citadel’s Surl aga mill has been refurbished to process 500 tons per day and the tailings disposal system has been designed with a “triple diaper” of environmental protection.

Mill tune-up will commence immediately, using low-grade development ore stockpiled on surface. When the mill tune-up is completed, ore from test mining of the Surlaga, Jubilee and South Jubilee zones will be processed.

Due to a severe housing shortage in the Wawa area, combined with a shortage of skilled miners and mill-operators, Citadel says it has introduced a housing policy aimed at attracting and maintaining the required work force.

The company has purchased and developed land for housing in the Wawa area, and 21 homes are currently under construction for its employees.
