W. R. O. Aitken, executive vice- president of Inco Ltd., will be the guest speaker at the annual Students Night meeting of the Toronto Branch cim to be held at the Royal York Hotel Jan 21. Topic will be Mining Myths — Mining Facts.
“A year ago cautious optimism was the best you could expect from mining people,” Aitken says. But today the attitude has become one of exhilaration. “Higher base metal prices, significant gold discoveries, greater recognition of the value of resource industries by government and improved international relationships, coupled with greater productivity and lowering of costs, have all combined to restore faith in the industry,” he adds.
