China will issue a series of commemorative precious metals coins this year, including 21 types of silver coins, according to the People’s Bank of China.
The commemorative coins, which also will be minted in gold and platinum, include such themes as Chinese customs, the Peking opera, the giant panda, the Guanyin Buddha and Chinese grotto art.
More than 2 million oz. silver will be used to mint the coins, up 474,000 oz. from 2001.
