The British Columbia and Yukon Chamber of Mines and the Society of Economic Geologists are soliciting abstracts for a conference on exploration strategies, to be held Jan. 28-30, 1998, in Vancouver, B.C.
Papers should document modern case histories of successful strategies or technical and scientific work that have led to the discovery of a deposit, including a discussion of its geology. Abstracts should be received no later than Feb. 1, 1997.
Entitled “Pathways to Discovery,” the conference will feature five technical sessions, including:
* an examination of corporate exploration strategies;
* the creative use of geology and technology to explore in areas with no known mineral deposits;
* practical, technological and scientific approaches to exploration and discovery in regions that have recognized potential but where no significant mining operation exists;
* successful exploration in producing camps, with an emphasis on new discoveries; and
* the use of new technology and ideas to locate deposits.
The conference will also feature short courses and field trips to Australia and mines in Western Canada and the southwestern U.S. The conference will also feature poster sessions, core shacks, forums and commercial displays.
The conference will be held at the Hotel Vancouver. For more information, contact the British Columbia and Yukon Chamber of Mines at (604) 689-5328.
