Canadian Mines Handbook 1993-94, published by the Southam Magazine Group of Southam Inc., 1450 Don Mills Rd., Don Mills, Ont. M3B 2X7. 556 pages. $50.95 (shipping and handling, applicable taxes extra).
Published annually since 1931, the CMH is a compendium of corporate, financial, mineral production and stock market information, all related to Canadian mining at home and abroad.
The current edition reflects the recent rise in diamond exploration in the Nortwest Territories and the lure of Latin America. Activities of Canadian companies working in Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean are detailed. The foreign influence is evident in the map section, which has been expanded and, for the first time, contains maps from active areas outside of Canada.
